As we make our final arrangements for our upcoming trade mission to Spain, France and Germany, I hope you’ll follow along and visit this travel journal frequently as we promote our products overseas to create jobs here at home.
Along with more than 75 leaders from Washington state — representing our aerospace, life-sciences, green-energy and automotive industries, as well as our higher education institutions and training programs — I will be spending 8 days in Europe talking about Washington state – growing our businesses here at home, and attracting new ones to our state.
As you’ll hear from those I’m traveling with, there is no alternative to face-to-face introductions to launch new business relationships.
We know these trade missions pay off. Last September, my trade mission to Asia resulted in $10 million in immediate new sales, with a spike in new business expected down the road. And in 2005, when I led a similar delegation to Paris, Washington reported $12.2 million in export sales, and six new aerospace investments in our state from Europe. Smaller Washington delegations to the 2007 and 2009 shows logged over $4.5 million in export sales.
Follow along with us as we showcase Washington abroad. I’ve asked participants to join me in updating this travel journal – and we’ll share pictures along the way.
